Two Groups Merge Into One: Raincross Master Chorale
A merger of two choral groups in Riverside, Calif. has resulted in a bigger group, with a bigger sound. The Raincross Chorale took in new singers and new energy from the Riverside Master Chorale, which folded after many years.
Now this 60-voice group is known as the Raincross Master Chorale.
Auditions for new members will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Victoria Presbyterian Church, 6091 Victoria Ave., Riverside.
Auditions will continue the following two Tuesday nights, after regular rehearsals. The group is especially in need of tenors and basses.
“Singers need both music reading ability to learn music and vocal ability to sing in an ensemble,” said Bill Brakemeyer, the director. “We take on a variety of challenging music, and we also have a lot of fun.”
The group’s first concert of the season will be called “Music Then and Now: From Classical to Modern.” It will be performed Sunday, Oct. 30 at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverside.
The chorale raises money to give out scholarships to young singers. More information about auditions is available from Sandy Tarmo, at 951-688-8150
