The Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus Music Department is auditioning singers for an opening in its choral scholars. We seek altos and tenors for a position in our choral scholars, the professional choral schola at the Cathedral, which comprises the section leaders for the Adult Choir. Interested singers should have excellent sight-reading, tuning, and leadership skills, and must be available for Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter, in addition to regular weekly services throughout the nine-month choir season.
There are typically two choral calls per week: Thursdays from 7:00-9:30 for rehearsal and Sundays for 11:00 A.M. Mass (10:00 A.M. call time). A complete schedule of liturgies and rehearsals may be found here: http://straymond.net/media/1/16/Adult%20Choir%20and%20Choral%20Scholars%202016.pdf.
Repertoire includes a diverse array of music from Gregorian Chant and Renaissance Polyphony to major choral works by Handel, Faure, Rutter, and works composed specifically for the Cathedral choir. Please visit the following link for the tentative 2016-2017 repertoire: http://straymond.net/media/1/16/Cathedral%20Choral%20Repertoire%202016-2017.pdf.
There is a competitive stipend for this choral scholar position. Ample free parking is available on the Cathedral campus. We are a friendly, welcoming group with a strong sense of family and community in our choral ensembles.
