Alto Choral Singer Position Available for the 2017-18 Season.
Hello friends – we’re currently receiving applications for an alto choral singer in consideration for a potential permanent position next season at Christ Church Riverdale (Episcopal), 5030 Henry Hudson Parkway, Bronx, NY (www.christchurchriverdale.org). Our season runs from the second Sunday of September through June (off the months of July and August). We rehearse Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM and sing at the 11 AM service. The pay is $125/week, payable at the end of each month. The choir also performs a Christmas Concert (and potential additional performances and services) each season, which adds additional rehearsal, concert and service fees. We are seeking an exceptional alto ensemble singer with solid sight reading skills, a superb sense of pitch, and the flexibility to perform in a variety of styles, both within the ensemble and as a soloist. The ability to sing comfortably without vibrato is essential. Absolutely essential is the requirement to sing at the Christmas and Easter services, which makes this an unlikely position for students. The paid section leaders serve as anchors for an excellent 15-voice volunteer choir that is comprised of volunteers, nearly all of which are music readers.
