The St. John’s of Lattingtown Choral Scholar program is looking for 2 Altos
(or countertenors) for the 2018-19 choral season beginning in late August 2018-early June 2019.
St. John’s is an Episcopal Parish on the North Shore of Nassau County, Long Island, accessible by the Locust Valley Long Island Rail Road station (car-pooling to the church, as well as from the train station, is possible). Our Choral Scholar Program sings a lot of interesting, challenging music of the Anglican Choral tradition to a high standard in the context of the 10:30am Eucharist liturgy and Choral Evensong. We are a choir of all ages, with mostly college age and recent post-graduate singers. The pay is $50 per call, with 2 – 3 calls per week.
The Choral Scholar program, based upon an RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) model of training, is intended for undergraduate, post-graduate/recent post-graduate, singers who are looking for experience in church music, additional musical education, and an opportunity to learn a wide range of musical repertoire spanning centuries in a liturgically oriented parish worship setting.
Applicants must have excellent sight-reading skills, the ability to sing straight tone, strong personal organizational/scheduling skills, and a desire to work within the framework of a musical team.
Calls: Thursdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Sundays from 9:15am-11:45am
(Choral Evensong Second Sunday afternoon of each month)
Those interested are invited to contact the Director of Music Ministry,
