The St. John’s of Lattingtown Choral Scholar program is looking for 1 Alto
(or countertenor) for the Spring 2019 choral semester beginning in January 2019 through early June 2019.
St. John’s is an Episcopal Parish on the North Shore of Nassau County, Long Island, and is accessible by the Locust Valley Long Island Rail Road station (car-pooling to the church, as well as from the train station, is possible).
Members of the Choral Scholar Program sing challenging and engaging music of the Anglican Choral tradition to a high standard in the context of the 10:30am Eucharist liturgy and Choral Evensong. We are a choir of all ages, with mostly college age and recent post-graduate singers. The pay is $50 per call, with 2 – 3 calls per week.
The Choral Scholar program, based upon an RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) model of training, is intended for undergraduate, post-graduate/recent post-graduate, singers who are looking for experience in church music, additional musical education, and an opportunity to learn a wide range of musical repertoire spanning centuries in a beautiful liturgical setting.
Applicants must have excellent sight-reading skills, the ability to sing straight tone, strong personal organizational/scheduling skills, and a desire to work within the framework of a musical team. Engaged collaborative learning of music in rehearsal as well as individual preparation outside of rehearsal is expected.
Calls: Thursdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Sundays from 9:15am-11:45am
Choral Evensong 2:30 pm-4:45 pm (Second Sunday of each month)
