Young Naperville Singers (Naperville, IL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Carey as the choir’s first composer in residence. Young Naperville Singers comprises seven ensembles totaling over 320 singers grades 1-12, under the direction of artistic director Angie Johnson and ensemble directors Anne Kasprzak, Jennifer Helwig, Ryan Henry, Scott Iseminger, and Amanda Block. Mr. Carey, of Oak Park, IL is a nationally recognized composer, conductor, and clinician. He has composed two new pieces for the YNS December concerts. One secular piece, “Alone in Winter”, will be performed by the Concert Singers under the direction of Anne Kasprzak. The other piece is a finale for all of the choirs titled “Come Christmas the Morn”. Mr. Carey has recently appeared as guest composer/conductor in Seoul, South Korea and Hong Kong, as well as being a recent headliner at the Nebraska American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) summer conference.
