My setting of Paul Laurence Dunbar’s poem Sympathy, called Why the Caged Bird Sings (SATB+ piano), was commissioned by the Young Peoples Chorus of NYC for their Honors Chorus, and is published by EC Schirmer. It has been an inspiration for many for the beauty of the poetry and the resonance of its meaning.
