Catharine Crozier (1914-2003) was one of the leading organ recitalists of her generation. William
Crotch (1775–1847) was a Professor of Music at Oxford University. We lost Richard Marlow last
June. He was a modest gentleman but brilliant choral conductor as you will hear in his choir’s
rendition of “Hail, gladdening light”.

the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin is scored for five voices.

Cesar Franck was Titular Organist of St. Clothilde Church, Paris from 1856-1890.
His Final features a splashy pedal solo or two and was dedicated to Louis James
Alfred Lefébure-Wély who was organist at St. Sulpice Church, Paris.

Apparently Haydn was inspired to write The Creation after hearing Handel’s oratorio Israel
in Egypt whilst in London. Whatever the inspiration, The Creation is considered by most
musicians to be one of his finest compositions.
