Prayer is the theme for this Sunday’s Great Sacred Music. Within that powerful theme I have woven carols for Advent.
The featured work at 10 a.m. is John Taverner’s Lament for Jerusalem. As the liner notes put it rather succinctly:
“This work brings together Christian, Judaic and Islamic texts in a passionate cry over and a loving affirmation of the city of Jerusalem.”
