Westchester Oratorio Society begins Tuesday rehearsals in Katonah, NY

The Westchester Oratorio Society begins preparations for its 2012-2013 season with rehearsals resuming on Tuesday evenings beginning September 4, at the Katonah United Methodist Church (NY-a walk from the MTA station) From 7:30 to 10 PM.
 
The season, which will be the group’s 16th and its sixth under the baton of artistic director Benjamin Niemczyk, will feature two performances with professional soloists and orchestra, the first on Sunday afternoon November 18 at the beautiful Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford, NY of Schoenberg’s “A Survivor from Warsaw” and Brahms’ “A German Requiem” and on Sunday, June 2, featuring Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy” performed by the internationally renowned pianist Helene Grimaud in memory of the Society’s co-founder Robert McDonald, Brahms’ “Schicksalslied” and Beethoven’s “Christus am Ölberg” (highlights).
 
The season will also afford an opportunity to participate in a chamber concert at the Chappaqua Library, a holiday concert at Muscoot Farm and a sing-a-long “Scratch Messiah” in Somers (New York).
