Cambridge University have had a unique and privileged view of the city they will be representing in the Varsity Match ahead of their clash with the Steele-Bodger XV tomorrow.
It is rare for a King’s College choral scholar to play for the Blues rugby team, but Rob Stephen is attempting to earn a place in the side to face Oxford University at Twickenham on December 8.
And with the dress rehearsal against the Steele-Bodger XV at Grange Road tomorrow (kick off 3pm), the fly-half arranged for his team-mates to get a view from the roof of King’s College Chapel before an evensong performance from the choir.
“I don’t think there’s ever been a King’s College choral scholar (with the Blues rugby team) but it’s not something that bothers me that much,” said Stephen, who is one of only 14 choral scholars, all undergraduates.
