WELLINGTON, NZ — The Wales rugby squad are hoping to sing their way to glory in New Zealand after forming a Rugby World Cup choir.
Team manager Alan Phillips today revealed the Welsh squad has formed the vocal group as part of their team bonding in New Zealand.
And, while Welsh players like Alun Wyn Jones are used to roaring the national anthem in front of thousands of people, that hasn’t stopped them honing their vocal talents on the team bus.
Phillips, who has now attended three Rugby World Cup competitions as a manager, and played in the original competition in 1987, praised the mood of the Welsh camp, just six days before they kick off their World Cup campaign against South Africa in Wellington.
