New! Welcome Julio Morales
His compositions are already sung around the world, but we want to familiarize him to more choral conductors here in the U.S. His music is accessible, melodic, and enjoyable to sing. As an experienced children’s choir director, he writes repertoire that is great for teaching and developing musicians.
Felicidad (Happiness)
Voicing available:
SAB choir and piano
SATB choir and piano
Difficulty:
“Felicidad” (“Happiness”) presents us with a profound poem that emphasizes the importance of appreciating the small things, not allowing our worries to overshadow our lives, and finding happiness even in the midst of adversity.
We are reminded that happiness can be found in all aspects of life, even during difficult times. The music is rhythmic and lively, the piano should accompany energetically, in order to motivate the choir to capture the essence of collective effort and teamwork through each voice.
Un Jardín
Voicing available:
2-part treble voices and piano
2-part treble voices, piano & double bass (coming soon)
Difficulty:
It’s unusual for children’s music to also include a text written by a child, but “Un Jardín” does just that. María Fernanda Carranza Jimenez, a six-year-old girl from Veracruz, in her poem describes a dream in which she associates her recently deceased grandfather with a butterfly that shows her the wonders of nature.
Through this text, filled with innocence and awe, she reflects a child’s vision of discovering beauty in every corner of the world. Passages of wordless text and voiced “bird sounds” are evocative of children’s playfulness. The piano accompaniment fills out the harmonies nicely and provides harmonic support.
Dibujo Un Garabato
Voicing available:
3-part treble voices and piano
2-part treble voices and piano.
Difficulty:
“Dibujo un Garabato” reflects the innocence and imagination of childhood, where a simple act of drawing becomes a creative adventure full of possibilities. In the words of the writer Mirtha Luz Pérez Robledo:
“It speaks of the moment of children’s creation when drawing, as with a doodle, they can create a world full of imagination.”
