Wayfaring Stranger from 1917 – new arrangment – SATB

March 9, 2020 by Bernard Sexton Leave a Comment

Inspired by the plaintive solo in the film ‘1917’ , this evocative and moving arrangement by multi award-winning composer Bernard Sexton, captures the spirit and uplifting mood of the penultimate scene of the film. The arrangement opens with male voices and female voices are incorporated in later verses. The final verse features a canonic treatment of the melody in male voices with with soaring accompaniment in the upper voices. The piano accompaniment is discreet and expressive . The vocal parts present no significant challenges and will allow your choral ensemble to shine! Very suitable for high school ensembles and appropriate in both sacred and secular contexts.
