The Vocális Chamber Choir of Buffalo, and Madrigalia of Rochester join forces to present an evening of incredible choral music, highlighting what Craig Hella Johnson calls “the new great American oratorio,” Ode to Common Things.
In the late 1950’s, internationally renowned Chilean poet Pablo Neruda wrote a collection of poems dedicated to everyday objects. At turns perceptive, surprising, beautiful, sad, and funny, composer Cary Ratcliff gives musical voice to the universal significance of those words in this oratorio. The two critically acclaimed choirs, piano four-hands, harp, guitar, and two percussionists playing a dizzying array of instruments will be conducted by the composer himself.
Each group will also present their own stellar repertoire at this concert. This exciting collaboration is not to be missed!
