I’ve recently finished two settings of ancient Scots prayers for three-part choir;
these would work particularly well for choirs who are short on one part,
or for cathedral choirs who normally have a treble section and want to give them a Sunday off.
They could even be done by three soloists. Transpositions (for instrumental accompaniment) or keyboard reductions are available on request.
Both are suitable for any time of year, and about 2 minutes long.

Quite easy and tonal; a few movements by fourths, and a couple of rhythms that may be difficult to read but are easy to sing. Mostly in C major, with some added B flats near the end. No divisi.

Slightly trickier; entirely diatonic, but the rhythms are spiky in places and it has some lovely crunchy discords. Still entirely singable by amateurs though, and could reasonably be taught to non-readers. One bar of optional divisi for the top line.
I’m selling these as PDFs (print as many copies as you like for your choir) for £20/$35 each, or £30/$50 for both together. Email to place an order – .
Lyrics:
“Come I This Day To The Father”
Come I this day to the Father,
Come I this day to the Son,
Come I to the Holy Spirit powerful;
Come I this day with God,
Come I this day with Christ,
Come I with the Spirit of kindly balm.
Come I to the Holy Spirit powerful;
Come I this day with God,
Come I this day with Christ,
Come I with the Spirit of kindly balm.
God, and Spirit, and Jesus,
From the crown of my head
To the soles of my feet;
Come I with my reputation,
Come I with my testimony,
Come I to Thee, Jesu –
Jesu, shelter me.
“God To Enfold Me”
God to enfold me, God to surround me,
God in my speaking, God in my thinking.
God in my sleeping, God in my waking,
God in my watching, God in my hoping.
God in my life, God in my lips,
God in my soul, God in my heart.
God in my sufficing, God in my slumber,
God in mine ever-living soul, God in mine eternity.
