Tulare/Kings Counties Mass Choir celebrates 20 years

February 15, 2011 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

VISALIA, CA — When Charles Parker started the annual choir
concert 20 years ago, he never imagined the concert would be around
two decades later.

“I didn’t look at this as something I’d do for this long, but
now I can’t imagine not doing the performance every year,” said
Parker, an English instructor at the College of the Sequoias. “God
has blessed me and I have to share it with others.”

Originally, the annual February show featured just COS students,
but then grew to become the Tulare/Kings Counties Mass Choir,
getting singers from both Tulare and Kings counties.

Today, the concert could probably add Fresno to its title
because Parker said the choir features several performers from that
county, as well.

Every year, Parker also brings in a guest choir to perform. This
year, the Living Christ Church Choir from Tulare will be the guest
performers.
