Dr. Thomas Jenrette, Director of Choral Activities at East Tennessee State University, received the Marshall Bartholomew Award on April 13th at the 45th National Seminar of Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. The award was established in 1978 to honor those who have made significant contributions through their work in the field of male choral music. Past recipients include Allen Crowell, Fenno Heath, Jameson Marvin and Jerry Blackstone.
Dr. Jenrette is set to retire from ETSU this summer after serving on the faculty for 32 years. The ETSU Men’s Chorus has performed under his direction at National and Division ACDA conferences, at State and Division MENC conferences and at IMC National Seminars. IMC is honored to have Dr. Jenrette among our ranks and is grateful for the many hours of beautiful music he and his choirs have provided during his long and illustrious career.
