The Road Not Taken (1916) may be Frost’s most famous poem, and has certainly been set to music previously.
Since I have not heard other settings, I’ve been able to approach the text without any preconceived musical impressions.
The writing is homophonic and not especially difficult, using frequent changes of meter:
4/4, 6/4, 3/4 (quarter notes constant value) to impart a supple quality to the phrases, as they would be heard in a fine recitation.
All my works are written in Sibelius, so professional scores in hard copy or PDF are available, as well as mp3 audio demo files.
