Audience members will be the singers for the evening, on August 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd.
This August, the New York Choral Society (NYCHORAL) hosts its annual Summer Sings. The public is invited to sing and socialize with members and the artistic staff of NYCHORAL including Music Director David Hayes and Associate Conductor Michael Ciavaglia. The participants will be able to step into the shoes of an NYCHORAL member and sing along with the conductor, pianists and soloists to a different piece each week. After the sing-along, the audience, chorus members, and staff will continue the festivities at an after party with snacks and drinks.
Each event begins at 7:00 pm at The Church of the Holy Trinity’s Draesel Hall, 316 E. 88th St. on August 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Choral music enthusiasts and novices are encouraged to attend to brush up on sight-reading skills and enjoy the bonding effect of choral singing.
The repertoire for Summer Sings is as follows:
August 1: Fauré’s Requiem
August 8: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Finale and Mozart’s Coronation Mass
August 15: Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus, Mass in C Minor “Kyrie,” Solemn Vesper “Laudate dominum,” and Regina Coeli
August 22: Brahms’s Requiem
Tickets are $15 and are available for purchase at the door or online at http://www.nychoral.org/summer-sings/.
