According to the viewing figures on my website, this was my most popular piece of music during January!
It is ethereal, and dramatic and sets a spooky sort of mood with its night scene-setting and word-painting.
The text is by Robert Louis Stevenson from his set “A Child’s Garden of Verse”.
The Moon was originally one of a set of five settings I made under the umbrella title of “My Bed Is A Boat”, but as I said The Moon has been way the most popular, along perhaps with “The Swing”.
Anyway, I recently revamped the voicings of “The Moon” for a performance in New Zealand by a very advanced high school giirls’ choir, and here it is:
You can see a sample page of the score by clicking on this miniature bit of music on the left, and you can hear a full recording towards the bottom of the page.
Hope you enjoy it!
