The Gift of Dreams to Dream

September 2, 2020 by robert cohen Leave a Comment

During this period of anxiety and uncertainty, Ronald W. Cadmus has written a lyric speaking to our hopes, dreams and better angels. The setting is available in both SATB and SSA voicings and would make a wonderful performance vehicle for both live and virtual choirs. I’ve copied the lyric below.

THE GIFT OF DREAMS TO DREAM

Somewhere in every heart, there is a place of wonder
Where shining stars are stepping stones
To guide you on your way
Tiptoe through each secret possibility
That whispers in the stardust on the ground
Let the magic sensibility
Spread your wishes all around.

Somewhere in far-off skies, lies a new horizon
Where all good things tomorrow brings
Are waiting to unfold

Just look within your heart
find all that you can be
life has given you a gift,
the gift of dreams to dream.

Dreams of mornings new
Dreams of simple beauty
Dreams of happiness and hope
Dreams of Spring,
Such wondrous things

Sometimes when we are lost,
Lost in a world of darkness
There is a place, where we can see
The promised world of light

Just look within your heart
find all that you can be.
Life has given you a gift
the gift of dreams to dream.
