James Weldon Johnson wrote the beautiful poem ‘The Creation’ which I have set as my latest a cappella piece. It’s scored for Tenor Solo and SATB (with divisions). The text is a wonderful re-telling of the biblical story of the creation of the world. It has wonderfully sardonic moments. But is a slanted re-telling with a modern perspective.
If you are interested in a copy of the perusal score and a midi (piano) version of the piece – email me at and I will send you one.
