The text of “Sweet Peace” is a plea for a world in which peace and caring for others become truly universal values: “Sweet peace, shower mother earth; Show us how to live as brothers and sisters . . . And feed the hungry children, Hold the weak and hopeless . . .” The music, written for a cappella choir, blends homophonic and polyphonic elements to create a setting that gives voice to the emotion and meaning of the words.
“Sweet Peace” was chosen to be presented in the choral reading sessions at the 2015 summer conference of the Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network (UUMN), in Boston, MA.
