Composer Stephen Chatman has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada. In the June 29th announcement by his Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, Chatman is cited “For his contribution as a composer and teacher to a generation of Canadian composers.” The Order of Canada is the centerpiece of Canada’s honours system and recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
