LONDON, UK — First he made a star out of a heavily tattooed mother-of-two whose husband was fighting in Afghanistan. Now, Gareth Malone is to do it again – but this time with a shy speech therapist and a 50-year-old postman. The latest series of the inspirational choirmaster’s award-winning show will see him create more unlikely singing stars.
In The Choir: Sing While You Work, which starts next month on BBC Two, the bow-tied Malone assembles choral groups from staff at four different types of workplace – an airport, a Royal Mail depot, a water works and an NHS hospital.
