WEST LOTHIAN, UK — PAMPERED prisoners locked-up in Scotland’s
cushiest nick are being offered the chance to join a new jail
choir.
Bosses at Addiewell nick in West Lothian plan to hire a
professional singing coach to teach lags to belt out rock, pop and
blues tunes.
And sources at the prison claim the cons can’t wait to sign up
for the music classes behind bars.
One inmate revealed: “We’ve had leaflets round asking if we’d be
interested in joining the choir. It might sound soft, but the lads
say they’re well up for a bit of a sing-song.”
The source added: “Addiewell is supposed to be an educational
jail, so the bosses are always looking for ways to get us doing
things outside our cells.
“No one likes being cooped up all day and we’ll grab any excuse
to take part in activities. A choir sounds like it could be a bit
of a laugh – mainly because we’ll be able to do a bit of rock and
roll and pop music.”
Inmates were given leaflets about the choir which claimed they
would be taught “roots, rock blues, gospel and pop”. Tory justice
spokesman John Lamont last night supported the move – as long as it
didn’t waste taxpayers’ cash.
