Simpson University Invites Community Members to Join Chorus

REDDING, Calif.—The Trinity Repertory Singers of Simpson University invites community members to join its chorus as it begins its 2012-2013 season. Trinity Repertory Singers is open to Simpson University staff, faculty and students, in addition to community members who are interested in singing choral literature.
Trinity is conducted by Dr. Hoffmann Urquiza Pereira, director of choral activities at Simpson University.
“The Trinity Repertory Singers offers a great opportunity for people in the community to share and develop their vocal and musical talents,” said Dr. Urquiza Pereira. “Choirs are also unique environments where people can develop strong relationships through common artistic goals. These principles combined have made Trinity a very special organization in our area.”
Trinity specializes in the performance of large-scale choral works, including compositions by Mozart, Haydn, Handel, Elgar, and others. Those with previous choral or vocal experience are encouraged to participate.
No audition is necessary. Those who are interested will have a short interview to determine prior vocal experience, basic ability to match pitch, vocal range, and part placement.
Weekly rehearsals will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday evenings in room HC-1 of the Simpson University Heritage Center, located at 2211 College View Drive, Redding.
The first rehearsal of the fall 2012/spring 2013 season will be Thursday, Sept. 6.
