HOWELL, MI — A “whole brigade” of students might not have pursued music careers if it weren’t for Rod Bushey, says a co-worker.
The Howell High School choir director was named the Michigan School Vocal Music Association’s 2012 teacher of the year. The award is the most prestigious honor given to vocal music association members. “It’s an unbelievable honor,” Bushey said. “I’ve been teaching all of these years, and when you go into teaching, you don’t do it for you.
“I’m getting real choked up.”
