Raymond Wise appointed to Indiana University

Wise, whose career spans more than 30 years, will serve a two-year stint as a visiting faculty member in African-American and African Diaspora Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences, in addition to his choral duties.

Founded in 1975, the IU African-American Choral Ensemble has performed rich and varied traditions of Black choral music, preserving tradition and culture through performance, education, research and outreach.  Meanwhile, Wise, a Baltimore native, began his music career at the age of 3, singing gospel music with his family, The Wise Singers.  He attended Denison University, earning a bachelor of fine arts in music and later a master’s and doctorate in music and education from Ohio State University.
