The chorus performs locally, nationally and internationally for community, civic and corporate audiences. More than 200 choristers come from almost 40 towns in six counties of New Jersey.
This season’s performances included concerts at NJPAC and the State Theater with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Brian Stokes Mitchell, News 12 “Sounds of the Season, the National Anthem at Citifield for the New York Mets, collaborations with Dukes Men of Yale, and the West Point cadets. In keeping with its “Kids for Kids” initiative, the Chorus performed with Neighborhood House (Morristown) and the Harmonium Choral Society, as well as performing for the Preeclampsia Foundation and Blood Centers of America Gala in New York City. The Advanced Chorus was honored to be one of 15 choirs, out of 80 who auditioned, to sing at the Eastern Division Convention of the American Choral Directors Association. The 20th Anniversary Season concluded with a tour to Ireland.
Profile: New Jersey Youth Chorus
MORRISTOWN, NJ — The 2011-2012 season was a special one for the New Jersey Youth Chorus as they celebrated their 20th Anniversary. Founded in 1992 by Artistic Director, Trish Joyce, the chorus is an auditioned choral program divided into five ensembles; First Steps in Music (grades one – two), Apprentice Chorus (grades three – four), Intermediate Chorus (grades four – six), Advanced Treble Chorus (grades seven – 12) and Young Men’s Ensemble (grades seven – 12).
