SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — In a little over three weeks, the 56 cast members of this year’s Repertory Theater production of “Anything Goes” will sing music penned by Cole Porter and taught by SPFHS Choral Director, Jan Allen. Although Allen has only two Rep Theater productions under her belt, she has spent 11 years educating budding SPF musicians.

Allen, who grew up in Connecticut, came to New Jersey to study at the prestigious Westminster Choir College. After she graduated, Allen got her first job in education teaching general music and chorus at Coles Elementary School.  In the fall of 2010, Allen became the choral director at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

“I have known a lot of these kids since they were really little. Right after I graduated, I started teaching general music at Coles. At this point, the first fifth graders I ever had are sophomores in college now – which is kind of weird for me,” Allen humored.
