Today I’m introducing Miniyama Nayo, a new nonsense work reminiscent of Mäntyjärvi’s Pseudo-Yoik, recently published via Walton Music. This work is a whirlwind of bright harmonies, dance pulses, and syllabic play. A full-fledged theme and variations on… absolutely nothing. An addicting opener or closer to any program perfect for high school choirs and beyond.
Will McLean, director of South Salem High School choirs, wrote, “My singers loved this piece! The driving rhythm, changing harmonic language, and fun syllables made this not just a ‘fun’ piece but also a substantial concert piece.”
