Open Score Training for Choral Accompanists

July 13, 2026 by coribelle Leave a Comment

The Open Score Intensive provides a progressive approach to mastering the necessary skills for successful part reading. If you already play for a choir, you have everything you need to succeed: solid piano technique, comfort with intermediate–advanced repertoire, and basic theory knowledge. During this course, you’ll build a practical toolkit for reading open score with confidence.

We’ll cover harmonic foundations, layering parts gradually, tackling the tricky tenor line, managing vocal entrances, prioritizing what to play, marking your score, and navigating canons and fugues. Each of the three included workshops comes with its own workbook containing practical exercises, tip sheets, and bonus material.

The intensive is available on-demand, perfect for a self-paced summer professional development “retreat.” Open to all skill levels of choral accompanists who play for school, church, and community choirs. Find it online at https://coribelle.com/open-score-summer-intensive
