Choral ensemble Schola Cantorum on Hudson (SCH), under the artistic leadership of founder Deborah Simpkin King, will conclude its series of open rehearsals on Monday, October 7th, 7:30 pm, at St. John’s in the Village Episcopal Church, 218 West 11th Street, NYC.
“The most warmly rounded…blend I have ever heard in a live choral concert,” is one reviewer’s description of Schola’s critically acclaimed ensemble sound.
Whether to observe or to participate, visitors are invited to be part of the exciting process of building sound with this ensemble whose reading skills allow, even at this early stage in the season, for attention to developing what is its trademark — beautiful sound, “extraordinary music, high drama” (the Villager).
At the conclusion of the rehearsal, Dr. King will apportion time to hear particularly mezzos who are interested in joining Schola’s roster of outstanding singers.
