Professor Carmen-Helena Tellez will be joining the Notre Dame faculty in July, 2012, with an appointment as Professor of Conducting in the Department of Music, and a major role to play in the program of Sacred Music housed in the Department of Theology. She is currently the Director of Graduate Choral Studies at the prestigious Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University, where she carries the role of mentor once held by Julius Herford, George Buelow and Thomas Dunn. She is also the Director of Indiana University’s Contemporary Vocal Ensemble and of their Latin American Music Center. Outside of Indiana University she is the Artistic Co-Director of Aguavá New Music Studio, an artists’ group with which she records and tours internationally. She has been previously the Resident Conductor of the Chicago Contemporary Chamber Players (Contempo), the Music Director of the National Chorus of Spain, and a Visiting Professor at Dartmouth College. In 2009 she became a Series Editor for Oxford University Press.
