This is the first of three songs from the suite Morning, Noon, and Night by Leeann Ashby. The opening text “Merrily, merrily greet the morn” sets a light joyful mood for this delightful English round. Ashby skillfully incorporates vocal ostinati and includes optional Orff instrumentation.
“The Swing” is the second piece from Leeann Ashby’s suite Morning, Noon, and Night. Based on the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson, accompanied by piano, finger cymbal and wind chimes; your ensemble will delight in singing this melody in 6/8 time. This is a great piece for teaching “accidental” and “lowered 7th /tah”.
With text based on Thomas Dekker’s Cradle Song, this is the final movement in Ashby’s Morning, Noon and Night suite. The melodic line of “Golden Slumbers” will gently guide your singers in singing lightly in their lower register and introduce them to singing harmony via descant and ostinati.
