Nixon Waterman’s poem “Today” serves to remind us that we should not allow our focus on future accomplishments to distract us from what we should be doing in the present. This new release could be considered a musical “call-to-arms” and would be ideal for a graduation ceremony, a choir’s alumni concert, or similar choral celebration. Utilizing a generous amount of unison writing, intuitive part writing, and opportunities for each voice section to shine, this new work could easily be mastered by your singers in only a few rehearsals making it a perfect choice for those troublesome, last-minute engagements. The piano accompaniment fits well beneath the hands and adds a layer of constant energy that contrasts nicely the lyrical phrases of the vocal lines.
