Featured in a reading session at the 2015 National ACDA Convention, this setting for unaccompanied SATB voices by Christopher Matthews would be a stunning addition to any choral concert. Setting a relatively unknown poem by Nixon Waterman, this new work features intuitive voice leading, recurring melodic material, and a verse/chorus type structure making it an ideal choice for a mixed choir that is just beginning to explore the realms of unaccompanied repertoire. It would work well for a high school or two-year college, but would not be out of place on a university of professional choir’s concert program.
