Choral directors may be interested in these new SATB arrangements – Salvation Shall Be All My Song: Six Holyoke Hymns. Samuel Holyoke was the United States’ first full-time composer, or at least is a leading contender for that distinction. October 15th marks the 250th anniversary of his birth. Most of his music has fallen into obscurity, but he wrote some good tunes. I hope these settings, which preserve his harmonies and an 18th-century feel, will help bring this musical pioneer greater recognition. And I’m glad to report that rehearsal tracks are all available from ChoralTracks.com.
