Inspired by the many errors and discrepancies in the performance materials of Francis Poulenc’s Gloria, I have been researching the work for several decades. I wanted to make the ChoralNet community aware that my latest research is now available as a new monograph. This publication seeks to assist musicians who are preparing the Gloria for performance by providing them with relevant historical, analytical, and practical information about the composition and its composer, and by offering details about the many issues and discrepancies found in the performance materials. A complete, updated list of corrections for the many issues and discrepancies is included. It is my hope that this information will encourage more and better performances of this notable composition.
Francis Poulenc’s Gloria is immediately available from CreateSpace (it will be available from Amazon in about a week):
This monograph is the second in a series intended to provide practical information about major choral works. The first was Ottorino Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity:
If anyone has a publication about a major choral work that they would like to include in this series, please contact me.
