FORT COLLINS, CO — The ensemble was launched by Dr. James Kim, the director of choral studies at Colorado State University, to create a platform for Colorado’s professional musicians to express the challenging masterpieces of Bach and other composers. When Kim hosted a conference for choral directors last fall at CSU, several former students flew in from around the country to participate in a concert.

“People had a wonderful time making music,” Kim said. “They all wanted to come back and do it again. I thought, what would be possible on a professional level?”

Colorado Bach Ensemble board member and professor emeritus of music at the University of Northern Colorado Howard Skinner attended that concert and felt the excitement of the audience as they listened to the live Bach music.
