New director for Australia’s Hot Ginger Chorus

April 11, 2012 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

By Janine Hill

MALENY, AU — THEY thought the best man for the job would be a woman, but that was not necessarily so.

A vacancy for a musical director with the Hot Ginger Chorus, a 45-strong female a capella group, has been filled by a man.  In a move that some might consider brave, even foolhardy, Paul Coppens has taken on the job of keeping the girls on song.  But the talented musical professional of more than 40 years is simply a man on a mission.

Mr Coppens took on the role of musical director for the Buderim Male Choir last year but had dreamed of balancing it by starting or finding a women’s group.
