New Choral work: How Beautiful You Are – Anthony Sylvestre (SATB choir (divisi) a cappella)

January 1, 2026 by Anthony Sylvestre Leave a Comment

Hello, here is my latest choral work a cappella. It’s entitled ‘How Beautiful You Are’, for SATB choir (divisi). The song can be performed in 2 languages versions:
in English/French or in English/English.
Performance Time: 4’45.

Listen to the demo here: https://youtu.be/rf9hSRFhwKs.

Digital sheet music available on the website ASTURIA MUSIC : How Beautiful You Are – sheet music.

The song ‘How Beautiful You Are!’ is a declaration of love.
It can be sung to either a woman or a man.

While the qualities of the beloved are listed in contemplative praise, the promise to be there in difficult times is made with tenderness and sincerity.

As we are enveloped in this loving tranquility, the voices of the choir intensify until they reach a second theme, one that is more marked and determined. This sequence entitled ”The French Dream’, introduces us to a more mysterious and dreamlike atmosphere, straight out of our childhood fairy tales.

Then, as if we had fallen asleep for a moment, the words “Beautiful! Beautiful!” resound once again, bringing us back to a reassuring reality.

Performance note
The Declaration
This first theme is set out simply, beginning with the words: “How beautiful you are!”…

The French Dream
This second theme in F Major has one divisi per section.
In its original setting, the French Dream is sung in French even if the rest of the song is in English.

“If the singers struggle with the French lyrics, an alternative is to sing the French Dream sequence in English as shown in the subtitles – even if I prefer the French version” (dixit the composer).

This piece would fit perfectly for a wedding but not only. I hope you will enjoy my new work. Thanks for listening. Sincerely,
Anthony Sylvestre

Text:
The Declaration:
How beautiful you are!
How beautiful, how wonderful,
Look how gorgeous you are!
I want to spend my life
Walking here by your side.
How beautiful, how beautiful…

When you feel cold at night,
I will come warm you up and cover you.
When you’re scared in the dark,
I will come close to you
And hold you in my arms.

You are so beautiful!
You are so beautiful! Beautiful!

The French Dream:
Tralalala, lalala, lalala…
Promenons-nous dans les bois ! Tralalala !
(Let’s go walk in the woods! Tralalala!)
Mais ne nous perdons pas ! Tralalala !
(Its fresh air is so good. Tralalala!)
Le loup rôde par là, tralalala !
(The wolf prowls around here! Tralalala!)
Ne nous attardons pas ! Tralalala !
(So, let’s not linger here. Tralalala!)
Il est passé par là !
(What are those leaves moving?)
Revenons sur nos pas !
(Can’t you hear it growling?)
Ce n’est qu’un rêve, je crois…
(Phew! None of this is real…)

Back to reality:
Beautiful! Beautiful!
How beautiful you are!
How beautiful, how wonderful,
Look how gorgeous you are!
How beautiful, how wonderful you are!
Beautiful, you are beautiful!
You are so beautiful!
Beautiful! Beautiful!

The French Dream (English literal translation)
Let’s go into the woods! Tralalala.
But let’s not lose our way! Tralalala.
The wolf prowls around here. Tralalala.
So, let’s not linger here. Tralalala.
I think he went this way.
Let’s retracing our steps!
It seems it’s just a dream…
