Mabe has been the choral director at LSHS for the past 31 years, and I’ll be willing to bet that you can’t find one person in this town who has not been affected in some way by this man’s musical ear, whether it be that they sang under his tutoring or had a child, grandchild, stepchild, nephew or niece who had the honor of being one of his students.
If you can stubbornly shake your head to this, then I’m willing to make the same wager on another bet. I’ll bet that you’ve had the pleasure of hearing the voice of one of his students. If you’ve attended any of the following, the annual teachers breakfast, VFW Christmas party, retired teachers luncheon, the Barbecue Festival, National Night Out, a Lexington Youth Theatre performance or even a simple Sunday morning church service, I’m sure that you’ve heard the well-polished soprano, alto, tenor, baritone or bass voice of a student of Mabe.
