Position Description
The ACDA Director of Education and Communication is a full time position, working directly with the Executive Director on location in Oklahoma City, OK, for the maintenance and development of the ACDA archives, development of educational offerings to the membership and choral community, and the communication of these offerings and programs to the membership.
Association Background
Founded in 1959, the American Choral Directors Association is a nonprofit music-education organization whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. In addition, ACDA strives through arts advocacy to elevate choral music's position in American society.
The Director of Education and Communication will be responsible for the following:
- Maintain, develop, and display the ACDA National archives;
- Administer reference questions and research inquiries;
- Catalog official documents, archival acquisitions and donations, and other materials of importance to the history and ongoing documentation of ACDA;
- Develop educational projects and member educational benefits from ACDA archives;
- Develop and manage exhibitions and educational offerings through the McMahon International Choral Museum and Internet site;
- Oversee the ongoing conversion of ACDA historical documents to digital media, and create new digital media from the intellectual property library of ACDA;
- Create ongoing benefit stream to ACDA membership from new educational programs developed from ACDA archives and intellectual property;
- Maintain communication with membership, leadership, and general choral public for the growth and benefit of ACDA membership and the offering of the educational programming;
- Monitor ACDA website and ChoralNet for daily educational and communication possibilities;
- Develop aspects of archival collection for ACDA conferences and work with ACDA leadership for unique conference offerings;
- Pursue grants to facilitate the above activities as well as other ACDA initiatives.
Qualifications
In light of these responsibilities, the successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated skill in research and archival processes;
- Demonstrated skill in project development;
- Demonstrated skill in media development and digital communication;
- Demonstrated success in using a variety of digital communication processes;
- Appropriate education, training and experience for the position.
