OMAGH, UK — OMAGH Community Youth Choir played a very special part in helping to make a happy occasion in a young couple’s love story that bit even more memorable, when they sang in front of them during their marriage proposal in New Orleans.
Deemed as the world’s most ‘perfect proposal’, the happy occasion occurred before the choir members, who were ‘busking’ at Jackson Square in New Orleans at the time. They were approached by Ben Winters, who asked for their help in proposing to his girlfriend, Wendy Kirkpatrick.
The choir then circled round the couple and sang a love song, when Ben asked that all-important question, to which Wendy happily said ‘yes’.

Following the proposal on August 4, the happy couple, from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, who plan to marry on May 4, 2013, said the Omagh choir had helped make the special occasion ‘perfect and unforgettable’.
The choir was in New Orleans visiting their friends in the Shades of Praise inter-racial community gospel choir. The Shades of Praise choir visited Northern Ireland in 2003 and the Omagh choir visited New Orleans in 2005 – just two weeks before Hurricane Katrina.
