Following its inaugural Festival of American Vocal Music in Mansfeld, Germany last summer,
the Lutheran Youth Choir of North America, formed in 2006, has several openings remaining for its new 2012 Festival of Global Vocal Music in Chicago, July 29- August 6. Experienced high-school-age singers from across the US and Canada are invited to apply; they will be joining twenty German students and returning American students from the 2011 Festival who will be coming to Chicago to participate. Highlights of the eight-day festival include a clinic and gala concert with composer Keith Hampton and the Keith Hampton Singers; the premiere of the 2011 Lutheran Youth Choir International Choral Composition Contest winning anthem; workshops in global percussion, vocal development, and world cultures; and sightseeing and recreation in Chicago and the surrounding area. Tuition, room and board, and music are $875. Application deadline is March 31.
