Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (SATB

February 13, 2011 by Kurt Erickson Leave a Comment

Greetings Chorus & Vocal friends,

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence – 5 minutes, for a cappella SATB chorus, with a brief section featuring four soprano and/or alto soloists. The work was first commissioned and premiered as part of a 2001-2003 Composer Residency at The National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi (San Francisco, CA).

The piece was recorded on the Schola Cantorum San Francisco’s 2004 CD release This Christmas Night. In a review of the concert, former Archbishop William Levada (now a Cardinal at the Vatican) said of the work: “Wonderful. I was astonished by the intricate elaborations on the simple, haunting themes and music of Let all mortal flesh keep silence“.

My Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence arrangement has been widely performed in San Francisco, Minneapolis, Napa, Texas, even Australia – this March the Bay Choral Guild led by Sanford Dole will sing the work in concerts in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Please feel free to stop by the Scores section of my web-site:

and listen to a complete recording while you look over the first couple of pages. Thank you for considering my music and I look forward to hearing from you!

Best Wishes,
