Messa a Piu Voci (1739): Multi-movement mass setting (Kyrie and Gloria only), approximately 30 minutes in length. Scored for SSATB soloists, SSATB chorus, oboes, corni (dispensible), trumpets, strings, and continuo.

Introito del Mercoledi delle Ceneri (1744): Introit for Ash Wednesday, written for the Real Cappella di Napoli in 1744. Stile antico work scored for SATB and continuo, but could also be very effectively performed a cappella. Approximately 6 minutes in length.
Realized score: $3.50 -
Messa Completa (c. 1744): “Complete” Mass setting (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo) written for the Real Cappella di Napoli most likely after 1740. A great example of Leo’s “reforming” church style. Scored for SATB chorus (one movement for SA soloists) and continuo. Approximately 15 minutes.

Leonardo Leo’s influential roses as a teacher, composer, organist, and maestro di cappella all centered around Naples. Having studied at the Pietà dei Turchini, he later returned there to teach, eventually succeeding his own mentor Nicola Fago as primo maestro in 1741. His service in the Real Cappella di Napoli began in 1725 when he assumed the position of first organist following the death of Alessandro Scarlatti. Gradually, Leo rose throught he ranks of this most prestigious musical organization and finally assumed the role of primo maestro only a few months before his death.
